Scissors & Shears
Culture: Late medieval 16th century
Country/Area of Origin: Blackfriars, London.
Notes: Dating to 16th or 17th century, although the blade shape suggests the late 16th century is possible. Provenance: Old Mudlark Collection. Found River Thames, Blackfriars, London in the 1970s.
Culture: Early medieval 10th-12th century
Country/Area of Origin: Kiev, West Ukraine
Notes: Hand forged iron shears with large slightly concave blades. The central rivet allows the blades to move freely. Found during excavations in the west of Ukraine. These shears are the period of Kievan Rus.
